Watchman Peek
We got a momentary break in the wind and rain yesterday--even some sun! Here we get a peek at a watchman figure at the top of a totem pole in Kasaan Totem Park.

Subtle Clock
There are many ways to tell time without an actual timepiece. Here we see the MV Prince of Wales on its way to Hollis, as it passes by Kasaan. What time is it? Right around 6 PM...I was on the beach in front of Naay I'waans, with a nice Equinox fire going.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Today, the Irish culture gets celebrated all over the world. Here we see a door inside the carving shed at Hydaburg, Alaska--a celebration of the Haida (Xaadas) culture. The carvers have taped examples of the Haida language, Xaad kil, on this door--and all around the building--to help them keep their endangered Native language alive.

Little Buddy
Up periscope, Little Buddy! I have to admit to looking at seals differently, after having eaten some seal meat in Juneau back in November. They seem so much tastier, though still plenty cute.
