High Wire Slug

slug on wild celery, Kasaan, Alaska

An intrepid slug slides around on some wild celery, high atop...well, 3 feet above the ground. (near Son-i-Hat Creek)

  1. Are they really called Intrepid Slugs? Being three feet off of the ground, I can certainly understand why.

  2. No, not an official name "intrepid", this slug definitely fits the word: "characterized by resolute fearlessness, fortitude, and endurance--an intrepid explorer" (Merriam-Webster).
